Make mine a marlin: High-octane fishing Jamaican style in Errol Flynn's Port Antonio

When Hollywood's most famous swordsman Errol Flynn got into difficulties sailing off Jamaica in 1942, he docked at Kingston and rode a motorbike 80 or so miles over the Blue Mountains to Port Antonio, finding it 'more beautiful than any woman I've ever known'.

We arrive in Montego Bay courtesy of BA and a scenic, 40-minute flight in a small plane east along Jamaica's north coast to join the Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament - a week-long orgy of fishing and partying.

There are drinks and breakfast at the marina before the 50-plus Marlin Armada surges out to sea, a helicopter-borne TV team circling above and the air horns of non-contestant boats scooting alongside us hooting their support.
